About the Director, Susie Woodford
Classically trained, Susie has danced professionally, taught dance, choreographed, and directed musical theatre for many years. Susie was the choreographer for NJHSA (North Jersey Homeschool Association) Chorale, Senior High Choir, and Men's Ensemble for six years. She also was the choreographer for the NJHSA Cabaret and Junior High choirs. Susie recently choreographed "Ain't No Grave" for Chorale which was performed at Carnegie Hall. She choreographed for "Project Dance" in Times Square, New York City. Susie’s choreography has won several awards for first place in local county fairs. In 2015, she directed and choreographed "The Lion King" in "A Disney Salute" with the New Jersey Choral Society conducted by Eric Knapp. Susie's favorite dance role was Graziella in West Side Story throughout Europe and at Paper Mill Playhouse, New Jersey. She danced in several music videos and national television commercials including Dodge and Arby’s. She also danced in live Industrial performances including Oldsmobile with Kenny Rogers, M&M Mars, Dr. Pepper, and Piaget Jewelry. Susie was a dancer in the Statue of Liberty Closing Ceremonies with Gene Kelly, The Pointer Sisters, and others which was choreographed by Dee Dee Wood (A Chorus Line) and Michael Peters (Thriller MTV). She spent three years dancing in several shows at the Sporting Club in Monte Carlo, Monaco, opening for celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Sammy Davis Jr., Kool & the Gang, Manhattan Transfer, Donna Summer, Whitney Houston, The Temptations, Dionne Warwick, George Benson, Grace Jones, Clint Holmes, Fats Domino, Peter Allen, Debbie Allen, and others. Susie earned her BFA in ballet and modern from SUNY Purchase.
I am thrilled to take over Voices of Joy as the musical director. My husband, John, oversees technical facilities and administration while my daughters, Melissa and Kelly, will be teaching.
